Christ the King: Paper Crown
I just gotta say that I have almost never heard good preaching on Christ the King. The preaching is usually all about how royal Jesus is, how Christ is so much like...well a King. Almost inevitably what gets lost is the Christ the King is paradox! Christ is king because he is messy! He is with the people! Christ heals the sick, hangs out with sinners, is friends with women....He is King in a totally radical way.
So one of the ways that we celebrate Christ the king with our kiddos is: Paper Crowns.
Se cut out crowns and then talk about all the ways that Jesus was a King...namely: healing people, having meals with tax collectors, preaching to the crows, giving sight to the blind etc. Then my kiddos draw pictures of these things happening on their crown...
At our Sunday dinner we wear our crowns and talk about the pictures.
Super simple, but engaging in this paradoxical Kingdom.
